HOW THE ESTIMATE WORKS
The estimate adds up the four things a studio charges for, so you can see where the money goes:
Expect around 1–2 years from an entry-level coating, 2–4 years from a good mid-range professional coating and 3–5 years from a premium system applied over full correction — less on a car parked in the sun and washed carelessly, more on a garaged car with regular maintenance toppers. Be wary of quotes that promise far more.
A quote far below the range — "ceramic, 9H, 5-year warranty" for ₹3,999 in three hours, say — almost always means a spray sealant with no correction. Ceramic coating in India costs between ₹8,000 and ₹80,000+ depending on city, car size, brand and whether paint correction is included. In metro cities like Mumbai or Delhi, a mid-range coating on a sedan typically runs ₹18,000–35,000. In Tier 2 cities like Jaipur or Lucknow, the same job costs ₹12,000–22,000. Professional-grade coatings for luxury cars in metros can reach ₹60,000–1,00,000 including paint correction.
Usually not. Reputable detailers quote paint correction separately. Light polishing to remove minor swirl marks costs ₹3,000–8,000 for a hatchback. A full two-stage correction (compound + polish pass) can add ₹8,000–25,000. Always ask specifically whether the quoted price includes correction — if a detailer bundles everything cheaply, they may be skipping correction entirely, which is the most important step before coating.
Entry-level coatings usually last 1–2 years in Indian conditions, and good professional SiO2 coatings around 2–4 years. Premium systems applied over full correction can last 3–5 years on a well-kept car. Claims of five years or more assume milder climates and ideal maintenance — Indian summer heat, strong UV, monsoon grime and hard water all shorten a coating's life, so plan for less than the label says.
Metro detailers charge more for three reasons: higher labour costs, higher shop rent (especially in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore), and more access to premium international products. That said, metro detailers also tend to have better-trained staff and more consistent results. In Tier 2 cities you can get excellent results at lower prices if you find a skilled detailer — the quality gap is narrowing every year as training and products become more accessible across India.
Yes, but with caveats. DIY consumer-grade SiO2 coatings and spray sealants are available in India for ₹2,000–6,000 and are forgiving to apply. They last 1–2 years. Professional coatings require controlled temperature and humidity — difficult in Indian garages in summer or monsoon. Yes, especially for daily drivers in dusty Indian cities. An entry-level ceramic coating (₹8,000–12,000) on a Swift protects the paint for a year or two, makes washing easier, and keeps the car looking newer for resale. The ROI is good because paint damage on budget cars is expensive relative to the car's value. We recommend a mid-range coating at minimum — entry-level applied without correction is barely better than a good wax. Budget for correction + coating as a package.
