Indian Season Car Care

India has four distinct car-damaging seasons — each needs a different approach. Select your current season and get an exact checklist of what to do to protect your car right now.

☀️ Indian Summer Care
March to June is the most damaging season for Indian cars. UV index reaches 10–12, surface temperatures hit 70°C+, and shampoo dries on paint in under 90 seconds. Every detailing task needs timing and product changes.
UV Index 10-12 Panel Temp 70°C+ Hard Water Impact High Critical Season
🚫

Never wash in direct afternoon sun (11am–5pm). Shampoo dries on hot paint causing water spots and streaks that can etch clear coat within hours. Only wash before 8AM or after 6:30PM during April–June.

Critical 🛡️
Apply Ceramic or Sealant
Before peak summer heat, ensure your paint has maximum UV protection in place.
UV index above 10 causes clear coat oxidation 3× faster on unprotected paint. October-February application gives protection through the entire summer.

Shift Washing to Early Morning
Wash only before 8AM or after 6:30PM throughout April–June.
Panel temperatures above 50°C cause shampoo to dry within 90 seconds. Water minerals concentrate as water evaporates rapidly, leaving etching deposits.
Summer detailing guide →
High Priority 💧
Use RO/Filtered Wash Water
Indian tap water hardness is 150–600 ppm. In summer heat, mineral deposits form faster.
Hard water leaves calcium and magnesium spots that etch paint within hours when panels are hot. RO filter water (below 50 ppm) eliminates this risk completely.
Water spot removal →
High Priority ☂️
Use Sunshade When Parked
Windshield sunshade reduces interior temperature by 15–25°C and protects dashboard.
Dashboard and steering wheel surfaces reach 80°C+ in direct summer sun, causing cracking and UV degradation within 2–3 seasons without protection.
Dashboard protection →
High Priority 🪣
Work Panel by Panel in Summer
Wash and rinse maximum 2 panels at a time before the section dries.
Above 40°C, shampoo starts drying on uncovered panels in under 2 minutes. Pre-rinse with cool water immediately before each section to lower surface temperature.
Two bucket method →
Standard 🚗
Increase Wash Frequency
Wash every 5–7 days in summer. Dust + heat bonds contamination more aggressively to paint.
Indian summer dust (particularly in Rajasthan, UP, Punjab) contains silica particles that bond more firmly to hot paint surfaces. Longer intervals make removal harder.
Correct wash order →
Standard 🪟
Apply Hydrophobic Windshield Coating
Pre-summer is the best time to apply glass coating — dry conditions allow proper cure.
Hydrophobic coatings applied in summer last through monsoon. Summer dryness gives optimal cure conditions before monsoon rain tests performance.
Windshield treatment →
Optional 🧊
Store Liquid Products Correctly
Never leave ceramic coatings, sealants or waxes in a hot car or direct sunlight.
Liquid ceramic coatings can cure inside the bottle above 35°C, becoming unusable. Store in a cool, dark location. Waxes melt above 82°C — store indoors.

🌧️ Monsoon Car Care
July to September. Monsoon rain in India is NOT clean water — it carries dissolved pollutants, industrial fallout and acid deposits from the air. Leaving rain residue on paint for more than 24–48 hours causes etching and staining even on ceramic coated cars.
Acid Rain Etching Risk Mould Risk High Risk Season

Wash within 24 hours after any significant rain. Indian monsoon rain dissolves industrial pollutants from the air. These acidic deposits concentrate as rain evaporates, etching clear coat over 24–72 hours.

Critical 🚿
Post-Rain Wash Within 24 Hours
After every significant rain, rinse and wash the car within 24 hours — 48 maximum.
Rain deposits concentrate as water evaporates. In 24–48 hours, acidic residue can etch clear coat permanently, especially on uncoated or oxidised paint.
Monsoon washing guide →
Critical 🕳️
Check and Clear Drain Holes
Check door bottom drain holes and sunroof drain channels every 2 weeks in monsoon.
Blocked drain holes cause water to pool inside doors and A-pillars, creating rust and mould. Indian monsoon volume is too high for blocked drains to handle.
Pre-monsoon prep →
High Priority 🏠
Switch to Rubber Floor Mats
Replace fabric floor mats with rubber or 3D mats for the entire monsoon season.
Wet fabric mats develop mould and mildew smell within 48 hours in humid monsoon conditions. Rubber mats drain and dry completely. Impossible to remove fabric mat mould without deep cleaning.
Carpet cleaning guide →
High Priority 🦠
Run AC on Fresh Mode Regularly
Run AC on fresh air (not recirculate) for 10 minutes weekly to prevent mould in vents.
Humidity above 80% in Indian monsoon creates mould in AC evaporator within weeks. Mouldy evaporator causes persistent bad smell that requires professional cleaning to fix.
Car odour removal →
High Priority 🛡️
Top Up Ceramic Coating
Apply SiO2 spray booster every 6–8 weeks during monsoon to maintain hydrophobic effect.
Monsoon acid rain and frequent washing strips the top sacrificial layer of ceramic coatings faster than normal. SiO2 boosters restore hydrophobic performance in 20 minutes.
Coating aftercare →
Standard 🔧
Check Underbody for Rust
Inspect underbody, wheel arches and exhaust brackets monthly in monsoon.
Constant water exposure accelerates rust formation on bare metal. Indian roads have potholes that chip underbody coating. Early rust treatment costs ₹200. Advanced rust treatment costs ₹5,000+.
Monsoon prep guide →
Standard 💨
Dry Door Jams and Sills
After every wash, dry door jambs, boot lip and fuel filler area with microfiber.
Standing water in door jambs causes paint rust bubbling within one monsoon season. These areas are not sealed and are highly vulnerable to prolonged moisture exposure.
Full detail guide →
Optional 🐛
Remove Insects Immediately
Monsoon brings more insects. Bug splatter is highly acidic — remove within 24 hours.
Insect remains have a pH of 3–4 and etch clear coat in as little as 4 hours in humid conditions. Use a dedicated bug remover — do not dry-wipe insect residue.
Tar and bug removal →
