Seasonal Car Care India — Summer Monsoon Winter Guide

☀️ Indian Summer Care

March to June is the most damaging season for Indian cars. UV index reaches 10–12, surface temperatures hit 70°C+, and shampoo dries on paint in under 90 seconds. Every detailing task needs timing and product changes.
UV Index 10-12 Panel Temp 70°C+ Hard Water Impact High Critical Season
🚫

Never wash in direct afternoon sun (11am–5pm). Shampoo and hard water dry on hot paint and leave spots and streaks that can etch if they are left. Only wash before 8AM or after 6:30PM during April–June.

Critical 🛡️
Apply Ceramic or Sealant
Before peak summer heat, ensure your paint has maximum UV protection in place.
High UV breaks down unprotected clear coat much faster. October-February application gives protection through the entire summer.

Critical ⏰
Shift Washing to Early Morning
Wash only before 8AM or after 6:30PM throughout April–June.
Panel temperatures above 50°C cause shampoo to dry within 90 seconds. Water minerals concentrate as water evaporates rapidly, leaving etching deposits.
Summer detailing guide →
High Priority 💧
Use RO/Filtered Wash Water
Tap and borewell water in much of India is hard. In summer heat, mineral spots form faster.
Hard water leaves calcium and magnesium spots that can etch hot paint if left to dry. RO filter water (below 50 ppm TDS) largely removes this risk.
Water spot removal →
High Priority ☂️
Use Sunshade When Parked
A windscreen sunshade keeps the dashboard far cooler and out of direct sun.
Dashboard and steering wheel surfaces reach 80°C+ in direct summer sun, which speeds up cracking and fading without protection.
Dashboard protection →
High Priority 🪣
Work Panel by Panel in Summer
Wash and rinse maximum 2 panels at a time before the section dries.
Above 40°C, shampoo starts drying on uncovered panels in under 2 minutes. Pre-rinse with cool water immediately before each section to lower surface temperature.
Two bucket method →
Standard 🚗
Increase Wash Frequency
Wash every 5–7 days in summer. Dust + heat bonds contamination more aggressively to paint.
Dust left on the paint for days, baked by the sun and dampened by dew, gets harder to shift — and a heavier layer means more grit at the next wash.
Correct wash order →
Standard 🪟
Apply Hydrophobic Windshield Coating
Pre-summer is the best time to apply glass coating — dry conditions allow proper cure.
Dry weather gives the coating a proper cure. Plan to top it up a week or two before the monsoon arrives.
Windshield treatment →
Optional 🧊
Store Liquid Products Correctly
Never leave ceramic coatings, sealants or waxes in a hot car or direct sunlight.
Heat shortens the shelf life of liquid coatings and sealants, and a parked car in summer gets far hotter than any label allows. Store them indoors in a cool, dark place.
Coating aftercare →

🌧️ Monsoon Car Care

July to September. Rain doesn't clean your car — it picks up dust, soot and pollutants on the way down and leaves them on the paint, while road spray coats the lower panels in grime. Residue left to bake in the sun between showers can stain and mark the paint, so regular washing matters more now, not less.
Rain Residue Etching Risk Mould Risk High Risk Season
☔

Wash soon after heavy rain. Rain leaves dirt and pollutants behind as it evaporates, and that residue can mark the paint if it bakes on in the sun. A rinse within a day or two of heavy rain, and a proper wash at least weekly, stops it building up.

Critical 🚿
Wash Soon After Heavy Rain
After heavy rain, rinse the car — or wash it if it's grimy — within a day or two.
Rain residue concentrates as the water evaporates and can stain or mark the paint if it bakes on in the sun — especially uncoated or oxidised paint.
Monsoon washing guide →
Critical 🕳️
Check and Clear Drain Holes
Check door bottom drain holes and sunroof drain channels every 2 weeks in monsoon.
Blocked drain holes cause water to pool inside doors and A-pillars, creating rust and mould. Indian monsoon volume is too high for blocked drains to handle.
Pre-monsoon prep →
High Priority 🏠
Switch to Rubber Floor Mats
Replace fabric floor mats with rubber or 3D mats for the entire monsoon season.
Wet fabric mats can start to smell of mould within a couple of days in monsoon humidity. Rubber mats drain and dry completely, and once mould sets into fabric mats only a deep clean removes it.
Carpet cleaning guide →
High Priority 🦠
Dry the AC Before You Park
Switch the AC compressor off 3–5 minutes before you park and leave the fan running to dry the evaporator.
In monsoon humidity the evaporator stays wet after you switch off, and mould and bacteria grow on it — the musty smell when you start the AC. Drying it before parking, plus a clean cabin filter, prevents most of it.
Car odour removal →
High Priority 🛡️
Top Up Ceramic Coating
Apply SiO2 spray booster every 6–8 weeks during monsoon to maintain hydrophobic effect.
Monsoon grime and frequent washing wear the top layer of a ceramic coating faster than normal. An SiO2 booster restores the water beading in about 20 minutes.
Coating aftercare →
Standard 🔧
Check Underbody for Rust
Inspect underbody, wheel arches and exhaust brackets monthly in monsoon.
Constant water exposure accelerates rust formation on bare metal. Indian roads have potholes that chip underbody coating. Early rust treatment costs ₹200. Advanced rust treatment costs ₹5,000+.
Monsoon prep guide →
Standard 💨
Dry Door Jambs and Sills
After every wash, dry door jambs, boot lip and fuel filler area with microfiber.
Water left standing in door jambs and sills keeps seals damp and can start rust bubbling wherever the paint is chipped. These areas stay wet long after the rest of the car has dried.
Full detail guide →
Optional 🐛
Remove Insects Immediately
Monsoon brings more insects. Bug splatter is acidic — remove it within a day.
Insect remains can etch clear coat if they bake on, especially in hot sun. Soften them with a bug remover or a damp microfibre first — never dry-wipe them.
Tar and bug removal →

❄️ Winter Car Care

October to February is the best season for detailing work in most of India — temperatures are moderate, humidity is lower, and UV intensity is reduced. This is the ideal window for paint correction and ceramic coating application.
Best Coating Season Low UV Ideal Detailing Window
💡

October–February is the ideal window for ceramic coating application. Moderate temperatures (15–28°C), lower humidity, and reduced UV give optimal curing conditions. Book early — good studios are busiest in these months.

Best Time 💎
Get Ceramic Coating Applied
The ideal coating window — moderate temps, low humidity, perfect cure conditions.
Ceramic coatings applied in winter cure properly and provide protection through the full summer ahead. Studios in October–December give more careful work with less heat pressure.

Best Time 🔬
Full Paint Correction
Post-monsoon is when paint defects from summer and rain are most visible and removable.
Swirl marks, water spots and light oxidation from summer accumulate over two seasons. Winter moderate temperatures give polishes and compounds ideal working conditions — less flash-dry risk.
Swirl mark removal →
High Priority 🧹
Full Interior Deep Clean
Post-monsoon interior cleaning — remove mould, mildew and accumulated monsoon debris.
Monsoon humidity leaves mould in door pockets, under seats and in AC system. Winter dryness is ideal for thorough deep cleaning and drying of all interior surfaces.
Interior deep clean →
High Priority 🔦
Headlight Restoration
Post-summer, UV damage to headlight plastic is at its annual worst. Best time to restore.
One UV-intense summer can cause significant yellowing and hazing. Winter is perfect for wet sanding and polishing restoration — no heat to flash-dry compounds. Clear coat reapplication also cures better.
Headlight restoration →
High Priority 🧼
Full Decontamination
Iron remover + clay bar treatment to remove bonded contamination from two seasons.
Summer dust and monsoon iron particles bond into paint over two seasons. A full decontamination restores paint smoothness before any protective product application.
Clay bar guide →
Standard 🔧
Rubber Seal Conditioning
Condition all door, boot and windscreen rubber seals with silicone dressing.
Rubber seals dry and crack with age, especially after summer UV exposure. Conditioning them once a year, in winter, keeps them supple for longer and sealing properly against wind noise and leaks.
Maintenance routine →
Standard 💨
AC Cabin Filter Replacement
Replace cabin air filter post-monsoon. Mould and dust accumulation is highest after monsoon.
A blocked cabin filter reduces AC efficiency and spreads mouldy air. Indian cars' cabin filters need replacement every 12 months minimum — more often in dusty cities.
AC cleaning guide →
Optional 📸
Document Paint Condition
Photograph paint in direct light to document condition baseline for the year ahead.
Annual paint condition photos help track degradation rate, assess whether correction is needed, and provide evidence for any insurance or warranty claims.
